Introduction

Kormo was a career platform from Google that aimed to connect job seekers with employers, with a particular focus on emerging markets.

Boomerang Digital (later rebranded to Notionhive), the company I co-founded, served as a local partner for Kormo in Bangladesh, where it initially launched and later expanded to India and Indonesia.

Throughout Kormo's journey in Bangladesh and beyond, I directly worked on the user experience design for the following Kormo projects:

  1. Kormo Employer Android App: This product enabled employers to find and hire workers using an Android mobile app, initially from the informal economy in Bangladesh, where most workers had low literacy rates and engaged in temporary work.

  2. Kormo Jobs Manager Web App: As the Kormo platform evolved to include more formal and professional entry-level jobs, this web app was introduced to help enterprises manage their recruitment process online.

Crafting the Kormo Employer Android App experience

I collaborated closely with Google’s UX designer and product manager to design the user interface and experience for the initial versions of the Kormo Employer App. Understanding the unique needs and preferences of employers, I crafted intuitive journeys that enabled the effortless hiring of workers through the app.

The Kormo Employer Android App enabled users to hire, manage, and review workers. I worked on the early versions of the app, which featured Kormo’s temporary branding as shown here.

Research-driven designs

To ensure a useful and relevant Employer App, I conducted user research in collaboration with other employees, gathering valuable insights through field interviews and usability testing.

This research formed the foundation of the app's design, ensuring it resonated with the target audience and addressed their specific requirements.
